Terms of Use

Effective date: October 06, 2026
Last updated: September 30, 2026

These terms govern your use of Mon Sous-Chef, operated by Guillaume Plante, 596, rue des Rochers, Boischatel (Québec) G0A 1H0, 581 992-9994, contact@monsouschef.ca. You accept them by signing in to Mon Sous-Chef; we keep the version you accepted, when, and how you accepted it. Nothing in them limits your rights under Québec's Consumer Protection Act. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information.

The service

Mon Sous-Chef helps you plan meals from your recipes and your pantry, builds your grocery lists and, with Premium, takes advantage of the discounts in your stores' flyers.

Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email address. Keep access to that address secure: anyone who can read it can sign in to your account.

You must be at least 14 to open an account, and 18 to subscribe to Premium. If you are under 18, ask a parent for permission.

Private beta

Mon Sous-Chef is currently in private beta: only the people we invite can use it. During the beta:

  • the service is free: you are never asked to pay, and we collect no payment information;
  • Premium is offered to you free of charge;
  • the service is still being developed: features may change, be removed or contain errors, and interruptions are more likely. Your feedback, at contact@monsouschef.ca, helps us improve it.

The beta ends at the public launch. Before then, we will write to you to present the plans, their prices and the terms that will apply afterwards, including what happens to your free Premium. Nothing will be charged unless you subscribe yourself.

Acceptable use and content

  • The service is for personal, non-commercial use.
  • You remain responsible for the recipes you import or add. Recipes imported from other sites, including through Pinterest, belong to their authors: use them for your personal use.
  • Don't use the service to disrupt it, to access other people's data, or for unlawful purposes.

Food information and automated suggestions

Food recognition in photos, recipe parsing and translations are produced by artificial intelligence, and meal plans by an automatic calculation. They may contain mistakes. Always check the ingredients, especially if you have an allergy or dietary restriction. Mon Sous-Chef does not give medical or nutrition advice.

Discounts come from store flyers and may change or contain errors: the price at the store prevails.

Availability

We do our best to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted, including for maintenance.

Liability

We are liable for the damage our fault causes you, as the law provides. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

Ending your use

You can stop using Mon Sous-Chef at any time and delete your account yourself in your settings. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms, after notifying you where possible. We may also end the service or your subscription without cause by giving you at least 60 days' written notice; we then refund the part you paid for and haven't used.

Governing law and language

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the laws of Canada that apply there. They are written in French and offered in English. If you expressly choose English when you accept them, the English version binds you. If the two versions differ, you may rely on either one.

Changes

We may change only the following elements of these terms:

  • the plans offered, what they include and their price; a new price applies from the first renewal of your subscription after the date it takes effect;
  • the terms of the free trial and of the beta;
  • the rules for how the service operates: its availability, acceptable use and content;
  • how we contact you and how you contact us.

We do not propose changes more than once in any 90-day period, unless a change is required by law.

Between 30 and 60 days before a change takes effect, we send to your account's email address a written notice, drafted clearly and legibly, containing only the new or amended clause, the previous version of that clause, the date the change takes effect, and your right to refuse the change and end the contract (by closing your account or cancelling your Premium subscription) at no cost, penalty or cancellation indemnity, by telling us no later than 30 days after that date, through the notice's refusal link, in your settings or at contact@monsouschef.ca. The change applies to you from its effective date unless you refuse it within that time. The updated terms and pre-contract information are attached to the notice. If you subscribe and your province's law requires your express agreement, we will ask for it before your next renewal. Keep your account's email address up to date. We keep proof that each notice was sent.
